Seasonal Census
What is the FrogWatch SA Seasonal Census?
During the first week of each season, we're calling on members of the public to get outside and record frog calls via the FrogSpotter smartphone app. Frog calls are then assessed by experts to determine the species and mapped to the location where the call was recorded.
These seasonal events occur during the first week of every season:
- FrogWatch SA Seasonal Census (Winter) 1-8 June
- FrogWatch SA Seasonal Census (Spring) 1-8 September
- FrogWatch SA Seasonal Census (Summer) 1-8 December
- FrogWatch SA Seasonal Census (Autumn) 1-8 March
Why Participate?
By participating in the FrogWatch SA Seasonal Census, you contribute to vital ecological research. Your recordings help ecologists understand how frogs are faring and learn more about the differences throughout the seasons.
How to Participate
During the first week of each season, we encourage you to get outside and record frog calls using the FrogSpotter smartphone app or you can submit surveys right here on the FrogWatch SA page. Simply head to your garden, local park, native bushland, or waterways to start recording. Even if you don't hear any frogs, your location data is still valuable, especially in areas where frogs have been previously documented.
You don’t need to be an expert to contribute to science! Anyone with a smartphone or computer can record frog calls via the FrogWatch SA smartphone app or website. Your contribution matters!
The FrogWatch SA Seasonal Census is a collaborative initiative between Green Adelaide and the Murraylands and Riverland Landscape Board.
